       Doug & Walter's Dog & Pony Show,                with Ned "the real artist" 

                           June 6-30, 2023

Doug & Walter's Dog & Pony Show, with Ned "the real artist" features Doug Pfliger, Walter Piehl & Ned Krouse. A fun and varied exhibit - enjoy the whimsical Pfliger dogs, the rodeo ponies of Walter Piehl and the creative ceramics of Ned Krouse. These exceptional and well-recognized artists work will only be on display through June 30th so don’t wait to visit! Once they return to their homes in Minot, Arizona and Michigan you’ll have missed a great opportunity.
 

Member artist is Kathleen Stromstad from Mandan.
Kathleen’s work has a wide range of subjects usually in watercolor and acrylic.

An artist's reception will be held on June 6th from 5-7 pm.

CALL FOR POETRY SUBMISSIONS

BAGA will be curating a member artist exhibition in December 2023 “The Artistry of Trees”.  This call for submissions is for original poetry with trees as the focus.  The poetry will be reviewed by a committee who will select three (3) poems to be included in the exhibition.  These poems will also serve as inspiration for the visual artists participating in the exhibit, which may include paintings, sculptures, and photography. 

Poems submitted should be no longer than 250 words in length.  Any form of poetry is acceptable and a maximum of three (3) poems may be made in each submission.  Poets of the selected work will receive a $50.00 honorarium.  Poets must grant BAGA the right to display their poems in the exhibition and use them for any type of publicity and marketing related to the exhibition.  Poetry may be previously published work as long as the poet acknowledges where the poem was published and he/she has retained the rights to the poem.

Submission deadline:  June 4, 2023

July 11 - 28 - This exhibit is a retrospective of the woodcuts of Charles Beck and the poetry of Tim Murphy.
 

Member artist is Alicia Leingang who primarily works with watercolor.

An artist's reception will be held on July 11th from 5-7 pm.

Eco Dye Painting with Chelle Doll

Dates June      13 & 15          6-7:30 pm both nights  

Fee: $100 (includes most supplies)             

We all have been to a funeral or a wedding and wondered what to do with the flowers and or greenery from those memorable days.  Or maybe you have an amazing flower garden in your backyard and would love to preserve some of its beauty.  You can, with the process called Eco-dyeing.  It gives you the ability to turn those living items into a work of art or beautiful fabric for clothing, journals and more.   More information is available by clicking here.

Zentangle with Pam Vukelic

July 12 & 19          10:30 am - Noon both days

Fee: $35 (includes supplies)        

Zentangle is a meditative activity and is focused on mindful drawing.  It involves combining defined patterns to create an original work of art.  No art experience is necessary to take this class.  It’s fun and relaxing!

Printmaking with Anna Jacobson

August 19        10 am - 3 pm

Fee:  $65 (includes supplies)

Explore relief printmaking (carving into a surface) and print multiple copies of an image. Participants in this workshop will learn the fundamentals of making black and white relief prints.

This class will cover block preparation, transferring an image onto the block, carving techniques, and the printing process.  No experience necessary! Come for fun!

June 2 & 3  "Art for Art's Sake Flea Market

Now's the time to start putting aside items for BAGA's annual flea market!   We'll start collecting items around May 1st.  If you have something you think would go well and you can't store it that long just let us know.  We'll work with you!  Most items are welcome - but please no clothing!

Volunteers Needed!!!

We need workers for the flea market sale!  If you have a couple hours you can donate - we need workers on June 2nd and on June 3rd to help assist customers!

Capital A'Fair will be here before we know it on August 5 & 6!  

BAGA needs volunteers to man the three pop stands during the event.  Shifts are 2 hour long and start at 10:00 a.m. both days, ending at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.  There are also other opportunities to help out during the event so please call the office if you are able to help out!
